I didnt like it the first few times also. However, as my skills improved I began to appreciate the variety of shots needed vs just Driver and Putter on every hole. Yes, the brush is thick, and yes there are areas that "wild" but there is no better course in town for a technical round. Plus there is a smoking ban in all local parks (if that is your thing)

What course is worthy of you making a gently sloped downhill walk to the first tee?
Was this your first time to visit a pay to play disc golf course?
Were you impressed or disappointed with the selection of discs in the pro shop?
Were there too many trees for you, or not enough?
Did you feel that the hole distances were too long, or too short to match your skill level?
Were there too many lefty holes, or too many hyzers for you?
Did you get lost trying to find your way around, or was the course easy to navigate?

These details make for a way more useful review that might actually help people decide if they want to go check out the course for themselves.

Got me and Matt into playing tourneys just 4 months after we started.
I would guess most people out there have seen this person on a course and don't have a clue who it is. Long time golfer and good friend to all that have been lucky enough to play a round and talk. Been interviewed and spoken for disc golf many times by the media over the years. Any guesses who this person is?

i think i could play any where else for free. this only applies to the wooded course. i understand the other course is a one of a kind for this area and might be worth the money to play.

notsure what "what course is worthy" means. i am not inclined to walk a long distance to any tee regradless of where it is.

yes, it was my first time to pay to play.

i was very impressed with the pro shop and the guy working there was very nice. i will recommend this place as the place to shop. plus the way i understood it, if you buy a disc you get a free round. might be wrong but i think that was the deal.

trees were not a issue. more or less would really not make much difference to me. i thought the lay out and the general condition of the land was not that good. i also wondered why the baskets all seemed to be old. i guess i expected newer baskets at least. i am also not a fan of concrete tee pads but everybody else on the card loved them. there was also a lack of distance and layout signs. i understand it is a limited space and i amsure you did the best you could with the layout but imho it is not any better then any of the other wooded coures i have played.

as far as distance goes, i liked the distance. i prefer a shorter course then most people. that goes back to concrete pads. i am a fan of rotating varable distance tees. but like i said, i seem to be in the minority on
this issue.

i thought it was a good mix of lefts and rights. we did play one of the holes to the wrong basket. i think it was number 16.

the map helped alot but a few more uniform signs would be great.

everybody else on the card lives near the course. nobody wanted to go back, they all want to play the other local courses. they do all want to go back the pro shop.

good luck. this is just my opinion. i know its probably impossible to change but the long walk the the first tee is not a good way to start.

I think its one of the best courses in the area. Yes, it is a long walk to the first tee, and little hike back from 18, but I like that myself. I don't know about most people, but a long walk does me some good. I need the exercise. Also, we usually have some good conversation on the long walk to hole one.

I only play Spring Valley a few times a year, but I do enjoy it. Also, having the Pro Shop on site is a real plus. You also have Northside Christian Course a few miles away, so after Spring Valley, we usually take a lunch break, and hit Northside and make a fun day of it.

Sorry you didn't enjoy it. Maybe next time you can play it with some locals that play it all the time, and you can learn to enjoy playing Spring Valley.

I'm with precious on this one. While the walk doesn't bother me (I'm walking a ways to play Texas Army Trail right now too.), I don't think this course warrants a "pay-to-play." It's fun and a good course, but when I think of pay-to-play course I think of good signage, manicured greens, and clear walkways. So while I agree with people that it's a nice course, I don't think it's pay-to-play quality. It used to be that Spring Valley was the only course on the northwest side of town and so you really had no choice. Now with Windwood and Northside close by and 6 other courses not too much further I just don't think it's worth it.

What is it, like three bucks to play the whole day? I know dozens of people that spend more than that for cup of coffee in the morning! Just sayin'....;) If I'm not mistaken, during the week you can play all 27 holes...that way, you're playing on the way to the first wooded hole. Whatever...everyone is entitled to their own opinion...but thanks for at least coming back & explaining the things you didn't like about the course rather than just saying it wasn't worth the long walk to the first hole.

i did not complain about 3 dollars and i gave credit to the course i did not play. all i said and i will say it again. i did not like the long walk to the first tee. that was my big complaint. still is and always will be. ii could give a dam what everybody else thinks. this is why i refuse to participate in anything organized. screw you guys, i'm going home.

Actually I'm thinking of disc golf. I've played pay-to-play at city parks that were nicely manicured and worth the $3-5.

If you hate the walk at SV, you will now hate the long walk from the last basket at TC Jester, back to the parking lot. Like I said before, I enjoy the walk. We usually have some good talks as we are making the walk, either at SV or TC Jester. Just part of the game. That is one reason I started playing, was to walk more.
