Hey everyone. I'm in the process of starting a Disc Golf Club at my school: The Woodlands College Park High School, located near Bear Branch, Terramont, Spring Valley.
I made this thread to help generate ideas for activities for the club, any helpful advice you have for me, sponsorships, etc. Basically whatever you have to say that could help make this an awesome club that can help the sport grow.
As of now, we will meet on the field once or twice a week and in the classroom once or twice a month to go over the basics of playing, techniques, watch helpful videos, and plan events.
I want the club members to learn to enjoy the sport and develop a desire to compete in tournaments.
Our goal for the end of the year will be to host a tournament that will benefit a charity.

Chase, that is AWESOME! We hope the best for you, and if North Side Chain Gang can be of assistance in any way shape or form, please ask. We'd be glad to help your group out.

Seriously? Jay Reading? That came out of left field. I wondered when I saw the login name.

I know. It's so amazing to see someone like Jay take an interest in something this small. I think it really shows how tightly knit disc golf is and the passion displayed by the people who play it.

Chase,
North Side Chain Gang is going to do a disc drive for your club. We'll hold a mini next month and offer a discounted entry for a disc donation to benefit your club. I will give the idea a bar to be set. I have 10 discs drivers, putters, mids, the works. I'll have a date on the event posted very soon. Please let me know what else you may need for the club and we will do what we can. Good job man! :D

If you need any help in running the tournament at the end of the year, please let me know and Birdshot will do what it can. This is great what you are doing for the high school students.

Finally had our first official meeting today! It was delayed from last week due to the rain.
I started off with an introduction to the sport and put together a powerpoint.
Turnout was 12 to the meeting and 5 to the course.
The lack of members is because of other conflicting activities such as baseball, basketball playoffs, and track.

Hopefully a couple of these guys will get the bug & come back out....tell a couple of their friends...maybe a little ripple effect! Good luck with getting the club going!

Basketball ended so some more people are slowly trickling into the mix.
Meeting #2 brought about 12 people and then we went a played a fun round of doubles at Bear Branch.

Hey Chase,
Way to go. Let us know how DGC or SV can be of assistance. I'll talk to Matt Stillwagon about that event he mentioned earlier in this thread and see how we can contribute.
What is your club meeting schedule? I'd be happy to come out and assist sometime. ;)

This would've been the only club I joined if I had one when I was in school.
