Has anyone heard any thing about a new course going in next to the Wortham Grove subdivision in the flood control/park on Wortham Blvd. in the 290/1960 area. It aparantly sprouted out of the ground over night -- I never even heard any rumors about it. I was headed up to Home Depot to buy some lumber and after turning onto Wortham Blvd. I happend to glance to my left and there sat 3 shiny new yellow innova disc catchers.
I almost wet my pants right there, Imagine, a discgolf course almost in my own back yard.
I havn't had a chance to walk the course to see what it's like but will probably do that tomorrow afternoon and will post a further update.

Well, I had a chance to walk the course near Wortham Grove just now. There are 9 baskets and a practice basket with the baskets being double chain Innova Discatchers. There are concrete tee boxes but they are rather small (appox. 3ft X 6ft). Not very playable at the present as 5 of the holes have knee deep weeds. Should be much better after Harris county mows the rest of the course. The course is not exactly a pitch and putt as several of the holes are 300+ with hole 7 being a wide open hole approx. 600ft. Looks to me like the course might be a little swampy for a while after a heavy rain.
Still haven't heard who designed the course or who paid for the course to be put in. I spent about 45min walking the course and didn't see any other disc golfers.
If anyone knows anything, sing out.

This is right by my house, so I'll try to keep updating this, if it's just a little easy 9, maybe I can spot out some alternates :) to make it a little better. I'll try to update whenever I get out there/mowing conditions.

Went and played the course last night and I would advise against pushing a double-stroller with kids through the whole thing. While it has a lot of potential the grass is VERY long. I will say I got a good workout. As noted the boxes are small, but the ground is clear around them so it's not too bad. If it ever gets mowed I'll be really excited. It's nice to have a course in the area.

Yeah, but think of the awesome workout you got pushing that stroller! I second that this course will be much better once mowed. The tee boxes were killing me. I mean who has a 600' hole with a 6' long box? I would put this place on par with CrossPoint Church or the plantation course. That being said, I think envision many rounds in my future!

Is there anywhere to park there, or do you have to park on the street?

Just played here for the first time and the grass was mowed. It's more of a practice field for distance driving. Not too many obstacles, just a few trees and shrubs. The tee boxes are small (3ft X 6ft). I got through 9 holes in 20 minutes and birdied most drives. It's a great practice field for the local players (close to 290 @ 1960) but nothing real special to drive out of your way to get to. Great place to tee off at 5pm if your stuck in 5pm traffic.
