Anyone else find it hard to play in this heat wave we are having?

After a round, I feel like my strength has been drained. I am ready for a shower and ready for bed. I hope we get rain soon.

I would have to say........no beer and masters golf............from shade tree to shade tree. :p

I hear ya about the heat. I always try and take the kids with me and this just makes it worse. I've found early morning is best (before 8), but I'm not sure it's always worth it to get up that early. It also keeps me playing the close courses so I can get there and get out before the heat does.

H3ll yeah! I'm for the early rounds myself. U get up early for work, so why not get up early for golf? Speaking of, Saturday Leagues at Moffitt were brought up this weekend. We all miss those. Didn't we run BOTH Thurs and Sat Leagues one year??

we still play Terramont on Fri -Sat nights, starting about 9pm until around 1am. that beats the heat for sure. I haven't seen the "hill" in the daytime in at least 6 months now. Anyones welcome to join us...The cops usually come out (just because our cars are parked in the parking lot), but we are getting to know each of them and they are ok with us playing as long as we keep the noise level down.

Played Moffit yesterday afternoon at about 2pm. Wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, but it was hot for sure

I don't recall that ever being offered, but you guys should organize a standing Saturday morning mini. Just a thought, and thanks for volunteering, Joe! ;)

Surprised it took you that long to post that!

Wish I could, but lucky to play when I can. Guess it'll be skinz or something for those that show up.

My computer time is choppy these days, and I long to sweat buckets playing at Moffitt.......then, a late afternoon shower to cool us all off. Faint fond memory, LOL

right? :eek::p:D

Almost always...

I put in two rounds today at Bear Branch at high noon. At 2:30 when I was done, even my shorts were soaked through. Two waters and two Gatorades put me okay. No heat exhaustion, but definitely gassing on the second round.

I'll tell you what, after we got done playing I drank a gallon of water, two gatorades and went to bed. I felt like I had just got out of a swimming pool it was ridiculous.

I think we ought to share some tips with each other about playing in the heat...

Mr. Ed usually will take along a small towel which he soaks in water and then wraps around his neck.

I usually try to wear a wrist-band to keep the sweat from my throwing hand.

I see some folks carrying umbrellas out there - does it help?

An umbrella can be your best friend in the crispy kritter heat. I won't play without one. And if a shower shows up to cool you off.............:D

I'll try and drink a liter of water BEFORE I get to the park. Get there and fill up again. I'll finish another liter or two before I'm finished with the round. Throw in some gatorade for electrolytes and just try and keep up.

Remember --- If your thirsty your ALREADY dehydrated!

Amen to this post. Drinking water before you go out can be a huge help.

When we're headed out for a weekend tourney, or really even a one day, I try to drink as much as I can the day before. I actually started drinking water two weeks ago to be ready for worlds...:p

I pulled a good one and drank a beer before heading out on Saturday. Picked up a sixer for the round too. got out there around 8:40 and was done by 2....felt sicker than a dawg for the rest of the day and half the next one.

The best way to prepare for the heat of Worlds..........play as much afternoon golf as humanly possible until you leave. LOL

I remember heading to Corpus Christi to play W. Guth the weekend before Dee & I left for Tulsa, 100+ temps, plenty of skeeters, and lots of liquids. Tulsa was a lot like KC, so be prepared to FRY and have a reserved lounge chair out at the pool for when you get in. Really makes you appreciate the concrete pond.

That's why i pulled 36 holes at Bear Branch at High Noon last week. I may try to top that this week. I survived, so hopefully that means I'll survive in KC.

This is why I miss Kingwood right now. At least you get to play in the shade for most of the course.

Ghost and I parked at the soccer fields and crossed over to the bridge to play. Some fallen logs oon the course and one that partially covers a tee pad. Overall, lots of fun and very few spiders. :D

If you can get past the hallucinations that accompany heatstroke I find the heat to be a good weight management solution. That is why I refuse to eat or drink the day before, of, and after a round of hot disc golf. What doesn't kill us makes us stronger (skinnier).

Just got done with another training day. 1:30 to 3pm at the Links:

Speaking of which, someone should be sitting on a ton of discs from there. The water is almost non existent. It is easily half of normal. So, someone call me with all my wraiths. I can see the dry spots where they went in.

Sunday before last several of the ponds were completely dry... and had obviously been picked over. I looked pretty well and was only able to find one S.Payne disc.

i guess all we can do now is hope that the person that picked them is morally strong. And maybe watch ebay.

Well if you need a partner again I'll be out there. I wish I could have gone with you to the LINKS since I haven't played there yet, but my husband duties called.
