Lost
Champion X-out RR...clear with green stamp...have a message someone has found it..(former favorite driver)
Yellow Wraith.....Trampy1 left PM he found it
Peach "Snow Farm" Surge in the corner on #4 somewhere.
Red Dart....into the ravine (probably washed away)
Red "Texas States" stamped discraft disc..into the ravine (probably washed away)
If you throw a disc into the ravine.....the next big rain will move it out...somewhere, someone down stream has a bunch of disc on the bank of their property...hmmm
Found
Green Champion Orc - belongs to Ian ??????
Red Champion first run Boss (ace disc) - belongs to Nate.
Thinking about building a locked box with a slot in it on a pole near #18's basket for people who've found a disc during a round to drop it into.. and for those who've lost a disc during a round to drop a note into describing their disc and a contact number to call if found. That way people wont have to hook up outside the course to retrieve and pick up their disc, they could just stop by the front desk during their next trip out to Windwood. The box could be checked a couple times a week by Doug Rogers...

yeah I've gotten several calls over the year by people who have found a disc of mine....problem is if you don't know them you may never hook up with them to get it back. Or you could be playing right beside them and never figure out who they are... So I've been thinking of a better way... The drop box would work at Windwood.. and I've got an old doghouse in my backyard that could be customized for just such an application...Wife wants it gone, kill 2 birds with one stone

most disc golfers I've met really want to return a disc to their owner...problem is, we make the call and at first we're like "Yay someone found my disc....and then we're just too far apart or to busy at the time to make the exchange happen, time goes by and it gets forgotten...
Getting a phone call and knowing your disc is at the front desk waiting on you seems like a more efficient/effective way of putting disc and owner back together.
I'll put it on my list of things to get done before Saturday, if it works maybe other courses can figure out something similiar that works better
I know I really appreciate it when SV gives me a call...

Saw one in Portland made of Metal and it appeared to be well used from the worn out grass surrounding it.

These and all other donated disc are very appreciated and go to a good cause, I passed a guy out there yesterday playing with 6or7 kids under 10 years old, and they were getting excited about disc golf!!!
The future comp. For big "C"
If you do find a marked or unmarked disc you can turn it in at the counter and WW will make the call to let them know they have a disc ... At least until the return lost and found box gets installed out near 18...
Big thanks to the guys who helped us drag back the two small footbridges... Maybe the vandals will get tired of floating the downstream...

That is the disc that I found. I will get it to you soon.......in fact I think I am going to toss some discs around after 12:00 today at Windwood(after yesterday, I know I need all the practice that I can get!). It looks like another perfect DG day! If you are not there, I will drop it off at the front desk.

there's another guy named Scott losing just as many disc out there as I have....good to know I'm not the only one..:D
I'm so used to being wet in the corner of the pond, the other day I'm out there, watching as my disc once again is headed into the corner wet spot...walk over drop my bag, start tromping around in the ankle deep water for over 30 minutes back and forth, back and forth......no luck, come out, pick up my bag and there it is less thean a foot away, high and dry.:mad:...no more clear champion plastic for me...:D
All bright orange from now on...preferably equipped with a remote panic button option installed...or a mini gps locator beacon...

And would you believe not 2 minutes later I lost my Champion green Boss on the same hole!!! Second shot blind over the trees and coming back beautifully. Unfortuntely I think I over shot and went into that thick stuff past the pin. Seriously, you need a machete and an Sherpa guide to break in that thick stuff!

You know - I have played multiple times since the opening tourney when it's been a lot drier and it hasn't been that bad. Heck it was worth it just to see David throw his disc into the pig farm! :D
I really only think it needs a hint of clearing, but 40-50' forward on the tee, and I think it would be perfect.

Any one who sees Lance Steck or Nick Escobedo please ask them if they picked up a disc on hole 13 at windwood today. It has my name and number on it. We had a couple of groups behind us but by the time I finished 18 none of them were behind us anymore. Tiff and I were practicing worst shot and I just forgot to pick it up off the side of the fairway. It's a leopard that I'd really like to get back. It is cream colored with a botched black swirl dye job. Any help getting this back to me would be greatly appreciated.

When you lose a disc in the ravine, you basically have 2 choices....get in there yourself and hunt for it....or figure the next big rainstorm will wash it completely downstream and off the property. Sometimes you get really lucky and a brother will find it for you the next day;) but dont count on it.
The creek rises, as we've seen after heavy rain in the area 6ft or more for a short period of time. Unfortunately Phil your viking is probably long gone by now, (we called off the search party after 7 long days of searching). Several of mine that have suffered the same fate..
It's probably time to start the grieving process and move on....:(
On a brighter note.... I did find Eric's (eyeDG) yellow crush in the pit on hole 3.. and a blue star Xcaliber belonging to one (Kinto), that I would like to return to him...

Doug;
How about having a dinner of Hamburgers and Hotdogs or Briskit sandwiches available for sale at the break? I would be willing to pay 5 or 6 bucks for lunch. You could back out the cost of the food and use the profits to partially fund the remaining tee boxes. Pre-cooked and sliced brisket is prety cheep at Sams and it's really good for store bought.
Also, you might want to set the lost and found box out near the sigh-up table --- it's kind of hard to get out there during the week to check.

Phil just turn it in at the front desk, they have a box and then it relieves you of the hassle of trying to meet up with someone or even trying to determine if your getting scammed by playing the "Name that disc...." game. No one likes that game..
If you find a disc at Windwood....simply turn it in to the front desk....easy cheesy...
there is only a very small fraction of the people who play disc golf on this message board anyway. If they lost it at Windwood, then they obviously play Windwood. When they check in next time at Windwood they can easily ask to see the lost disc box at the front desk of Windwood to see if anyone found and returned their disc that they lost at Windwood.

yes, the front desk at Windwood has a lot of discs stacking up. I think there is 10 in there now. I do know that if they are turned in there and have a number on them they will call and let them know that they are in the lost and found.

My buddy lost my Orange Destroyer on 17 in the high grass. It should have my name and number on it. This was about 2-3 weeks ago.

I have been talking to them for a while via texting. It looks like they can meet on Sat. You should come play the mini at windwood and then we can confront them.

It is a 17 year old kid in high school. It would be easier to confront an adult. I have talked to him but it doesn't mean he is going to stop. let me know if anyone hears from this kid.

If anyone has last a disc in the creek latley well its gone these kids found at least 20 discs mostly pass the bridge on the path to hole 5. I asked them if they were going to turn all those into the office they gave me no answer. So the next time anyone sees them out there just pulling disc out I say we start using them as target practice !!!

well it's an age old debate that has gone on forever. If you throw your disc into the creek and it's not important enough for you to stop and retrieve it, then you are basically abandoning your property. If it's returned to you by someone else it's a gift. If not, it was by your own choice you gave it up.
I've stopped writing my name on my disc, because by doing that it puts the thought and expectation in my mind that it is indeed someone elses responsibility to return a disc I left abandoned.
I now just write...."This use to be my favorite driver....Now it's yours"
That way if I lose it and leave it behind, I'm not upset over the loss. Personally I will turn in every disc that I find with a name on it and call them to tell them they can pick it up at the front desk. I appreciate when one of mine are turned in but the odds aren't with you on that one...just the reality.. so why set yourself up for getting upset about it it...
Get in there and get it back...or get over it.... the sooner the better in both cases..

I found a disc on hole 18 yesterday. If you can tell me the mold and color, I will be happy to give it back to you. If I don't get a reply in the next 2 weeks I will turn it into the office.
