Anyone know the story with the missing #17 basket on Cedar Hills? The basket, pole, and concrete are all gone. :(

Some guys were down from Illinois to play a bunch of Houston courses this weekend and I was giving them the Brooks tour today and we were disappointed when we got to #17 and had no basket to play to.

On the plus side (personally) we decided to play object golf on that hole to the trash can by the picnic table (321') and I logged my first object golf ace. :)

Its been loose for a long time due to erosion. Somebody must of noticed that.

The fact that any player has the audacity to steal a course basket just annoys the hell out of me! Haven't they ever heard of a thing called kharma? And if any of you know who did it & haven't guilt tripped this douche, then you're heading for bad kharmaland too! May a thousand mosquitoes leave eggs in the drool dripping out of your mouth while you sleep off the case of beer you drank last night!!!

There were some obvious tire tracks in the grass leading from the road up the side of the hill. Anyone know anyone who works on C.S.I.?

I can't believe some jack asses would pull the basket out throw it in the pond. Where are the park rangers that are supposed to be patrolling the area? Is there anyway we can get more police patrols out there? I have only seen police in the park once when I was out there.

on a more serious note... We had a basket yanked out of the ground at Windwood and they tried dragging it off... I assume they got tired and left it in the creek... A couple golfers found it in the creek and hauled it back to it's hole... The next morning I came out with more concrete and a 6ft length of rebar. Drove the rebar deep into the ground next to the basket and re-cemented it in. It's going nowhere now...

Suggestion - worth the added work to drive reinforcement bar 6ft into the ground and concrete your basket with at least an 80lb bag, around the rebar.... They become way too much work to be stolen then:cool:

Sometime during the night last Friday #17 basket was removed from its spot on the course. For reasons unknown, the basket was simply rolled in to the adjacent pond. A parks employee and a Brooks Brother recovered the basket early Saturday morning. The basket will be reinstalled with a larger footing soon. Not soon enough though. Those little bas-turds don't need to be able to return to the crime scene and boost.

I ran into some guys down there a while back that all drive pretty good sized 4x4s and they like to drive across the course and through the pond. They are all in their late teens to early 20's and have too much time on their hands.

Thanks to Boo and Mike Solis; #17 basket is "firmly" back in the ground...

Not today it wasn't. Melissa and I played Brooks this morning and when we arrived 17 was laying on its side surrounded by freshly cut grass. Looks like the mowers took it out.

Looks like the jowers took it out.

I'm pretty sure Dixon didn't take it out.... As he was in Huntsville on Saturday...

The basket was hit by a mower and the parks dept. has it in the garage. We can't win for losing down here. If it's not a vandal stealing, it's our own parks people "fixing" baskets.

No estimate yet on its return.
