Come check out Birdshot on FaceBook (http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=289904797898).

I've started a Birdshot group on FaceBook to help keep Houston area disc golfers updated about our tournaments, minis, clinics and leagues. We welcome everyone to upload photos and videos from Birdshot tournaments, join in discussions, write on our wall and meet other local disc golfers. You will also be able to 'join' our scheduled events and let your friends know which tournaments you'll be playing.

We hope to see you all on Facebook.

So what is the latest on TLV, or am I able to ask on this forum? :confused:

The course than can't be mentioned is becoming popular with the area residents. It is rare that I play a round on the weekend and not see a family or three out there playing. The course also has a lot of women out there throwing too, more than I've seen on other area courses. The area Academy can't seem to keep discs on their shelves either.

That is all I know at this point. I haven't heard from the city in months now about complaints or plans for the course.

Still a very playable 15 holes...we've been playing 10, 11 & 12 again after hole 18 to make it a full game. Seems like City Council took a lot of the ad-hoc committee's suggestions with grains of selective salt....they wisely (and surprisingly) came to the conclusion that a bunch of these naysayers were just....let's be delicate now in case one them is reading this....uh, mistaken or confused. Nuff said...or so I'm told!

I drove out there from Humble two weekends ago, and played the course twice. I had a great time even though it was cold and damp. Thats a fun course to play. Great for all skill levels to enjoy.

The back nine dry out pretty quick. I'll be playing them tomorrow.

TLV is still very much alive & well...still a great 15 holes of golf! This coming Wednesday (April 28) the three Birdshot leagues are invited to meet here around 5:00 to 5:30 for random draw doubles....you non-leaguers are invited as well!

FYI - TLV is going through some course signage changes. Holes 11, 15 and 18 will have the wrong signs until new ones can be installed. Please referrer to the map on the website if you've never played the course before.

Also, starting next Thursday, the 12th, we're going to be starting six weeks of Mystery Minis out at TLV in the evenings kicking off between 5:30 & 6. Mystery Minis will focus on fun and not competition. We're going to be playing rounds with Ript cards, Worst-shot doubles, Triples, single disc rounds and that sort of thing. No sign-up fee and no prizes. Hope to see y'all out there.

One year anniversary is coming up and we're going to mark it with a casual mini on Sunday the 10th. Flex start between 2:30-3:30. We may have temp baskets out there to make a full 18 too. If you helped put the course in we'd love to see you out there.

Entry fee is one disc, payout is plastic, top three get to split the discs 50/30/20. Ace pot is a mini. :D

Afterwards we can head over to boondoggles for the 19th hole.

Don't forget....Sunday afternoon at TLV! Come out & help us celebrate the course's 1st Birthday! No money (not allowed here technically)....entry fee is one disc! Winners will get to pick & choose! Mostly we're just doing this because...doggone it....it's fun!:D

Depends on how many folks show. I'd like to keep it simple and offer just two or three divisions, but any div that has 3 players will make as a winner take all div.

Matt Beard hit an eagle on hole 6 out at TLV today. His drive went about 350' from the tee and the second shot went right into the basket from 265' or so out.

I'm pretty sure that's the first eagle on 6 out there and certainly the first eagle I've ever seen on a course.

Have your ever witnessed an ace? If so, you HAVE seen the eagle. ;)

Thanks for the love Chris, not necessary but appreciated. It was a cool feeling and I didn't think I would ever 2 that hole.

I've heard a number of troubling reports from folks playing at TLV. The Lakeview Police are now harassing disc golfers in the park. I've heard of more than a few bag and cooler searches happening over the past three weeks. The Police have also driven their cruisers across fairways to approach groups of disc golfers. In addition the police are now accusing disc golfers of being reported of committing crimes as a reason to harass you.

I would recommend that anyone playing the park adhere to all laws and rules of the park (no alcohol). Also, remember that you do have the right to be free from police harassment including searches. If you have any complaints about harassment out there please direct them to the TLV City Hall.

TLVDGC is turning two this weekend! Come out & join us Sunday afternoon at 2:00 for a little fundraising celebration...$5 gets you in with the money going to the basket fund for the proposed new course in League City. We should have some prizes to give away to the division winners...bring your gently used plastic to put into the prize pool! So go play RJ's mini at Brooks in the morning...grab some lunch & then join us at TLV!
