The cat is out of the bag. Exciting news!!! Texas States will be played on 3 courses at Jack Brooks Park. Help make it Memorable. We'll be looking for idea people, worker bees and players that enjoy a good challange.
I look forward to providing a great Brooks experience in 2011.

Hi Jake,
I would like to put my name in for the Scorekeeping position. I'll help with course prep of course. I'm hoping a lot of the course prep for Gulf Meadows and Cedar Hills will be done by the time Birdshot's B tier in November comes around so players will get an idea of what it will look like.

Just wanted to bump this back up since there's been all the talk about Masters at Shawshank next year....I noticed Jake was out there yesterday working on a bridge on the new course. Lots of work to be done to get this thing ready for both the B-tier coming up this fall and, of course, for Texas States 2011! All you willing people on the Houston South Side need to pitch in & help get this thing ready too!

Hey Jake.... Got out to the Cedar Hills course on Sunday and WOW!!! I Love it!!! Not many courses spark me to want to write a review on the course, but this course is incredible and I can't wait to get over to DGCR and write one. Cedar Hills has raised the bar so high for anyone thinking they are going to design the next finess course in town.
Big Big thanks go out to you and the people who helped you out there. This course now becomes the standard by which all future courses in the Houston area will be judged against.
Not sure where the course at Telge stands right now, but I really hope whoever is doing the majority of the designs out there, spends a lot of time at Cedar Hills and "pushes the envelope" like you did.
2011 Texas States is going to be fantastic, and the sleepy little town of Hitchcock is going to produce golfers with MAD finess skills.
I can't wait to see what your planning for a third course out there... I hope you make it even tougher!!!
Thanks so much for setting the bar at such a high level, just what this area needs!!! The best Houston has to offer is in Hitchcock!! Un-Freakin_Believable!!!!!
I wish I didn't live 60+ miles away:(

Wow... Thanks for the kind words.
And I would add a huge thank you to the Brooks crew (you know who that is) who continues to better the courses at Brooks despite the heat; mosquitoes & spiders and me.
We've come a long way, but we have a long way yet to go.
All I can say, is keep playing.
Tim shot a 58 on the hills course yesterday. The record in competetion is a 57. If you think you're a bad mo phu, come try to handle the hills. And try not to quit!!!:p

Ha ha...Yeah I played 2 1/2 rounds with Slim yesterday.. He had a very hot round going until he hit #15... That's where I peeled off for the truck and headed home. I think he was -4 after 14.
I can't wait to get back down there:cool: (now that I know what NOT to do on each hole...:D)

Masters at Brooks, better than Shawshank. You can park and the hotels are better, plus you can go to Galveston for entertainment, or the dog track.
No entertaiment in Huntsville.

I went to college there and completely disagree. Huntsville is a great city filled with loads of things to do.

Boo will be out at the course Saturday...probably even if it's raining...to jump-start some more work to get ready for States...please join him if you can! He will most likely be out there Sunday as well...so please look for him after RJ's mini Sunday morning & lend a hand. There's a lot to be done between now & the first of April....Brooks has the funding & materials...now all they need is you! I imagine that most weekends from now until then will be spent by various people (hopefully) coming out to make these courses happen...remember, there's a whole new 18 hole course that has to be put together before States as well...lots to be done...let's get out there & do it!

ATTENTION ALL DISC GOLFERS! We're only two weeks out from Texas States now & there's still plenty of work to be done on the courses...please put down your plastic for a couple of days & come on down south to lend a hand! We'll be meeting at the pavillion near the Veterans Memorial both Saturday & Sunday around 9:00...bring wheelbarrows, shovels, rakes, gloves, chainsaws & other such implements of destruction & be prepared to do a little hard work (which will made easier the more of you who show up!). Ideally we can get the rest of the boxes poured this weekend & there are still a couple of holes on the temp course that need trimming up...and the weather should be fantastic to get the concrete done (no rain anywhere in the forecast). Again....please put your bags down for a weekend or two...especially if you're playing States but haven't come out to lend a hand yet. It would be fantastic if we could knock this stuff out this weekend & then the courses will be ready for players to start practicing for States! We need your help so the out-of-towners will leave here talking about how sweet the tourney was & will be looking forward to coming back next year whether it's an NT event or not! Be there!
