Do you enjoy praying for birdies? If so, you'll have ample oppurtunity to do so on Saturday May 8 as Birdshot brings you the first ever PDGA sanctioned event at Windwood! For those of you who have been following the progression of this course the past few months & have played there & maybe even had a hand in building the course and/or pouring the concrete tees, then you already know what a great course it is. For those of you who have not had the pleasure, you are in for a treat! The church is having a special lunch for it's members that day & we're invited to eat free along with them...in return we are donating our usual management fee & any day-of registration fees back to the church. We are more than happy to do that anyway since we haven't been able to pony up the dinero to sponsor a hole...so the more the merrier! See www.houstonbirdshot.com (http://www.houstonbirdshot.com) for more details!

It could be the practice basket, but I thought that was a different model basket. And I kept the halo, it didn't have your name on it...

There's a chance (not sure if Doug's ordered the 3 new baskets yet) that we could be playing 2 rounds of 21 holes on May 8th.... The concrete is looking great and the course is breaking in very nicely.... Can't wait for this one!!!

Matt would you consider being the "official" stationed at T-box 11 to warn all golfers finishing hole 10 to be aware of throws coming from the #4 T-box? That would be huge and the best seat in the house for viewing "Ace" runs at #4:cool:

whats the rating cutoff for open/advanced?
The only official cut off for open/adv is if you have taken cash and are 970 or higher rated then you have to play open. If you haven't taken cash anywhere, then you can technically be any rating.

The 970 cut is for "pros playing am". If you haven't accepted cash at a tourney then you're not technically a pro. So you can play MA1 which is 935 and above.

"970+" is the Suggested Minimum Rating for Open.
The AM rating requirement for MA1 is "Any".
The distinction between Pro & Am is documented here:
http://www.pdga.com/rules/2-3-reclassification
The rating requirement for Pros playing MA1 is "<970".

Great turnout yesterday & a great day of competition! Doug, YOU guys rock! Scott....I guess you had to leave before payout, but I just wanted to say again a big THANK YOU for all of your work & inspiration for getting this course in the ground in the first place....and all the other people who have helped make it happen, from conception & design to the sweet concrete tees! It takes a lot of work to maintain this thing now...Doug mentioned putting up a donation box & asked people to drop in a quarter or something. I say do like WILCO in Round Rock....suggest a dollar donation & almost everyone will be able & more than willing to pay a buck to play such a sweet course! Thanks to all the Birdshooters for showing up again....the Birdshot No-Rain-For-Tourneys policy was still in effect...and congrats to Conal Stillwagon for breaking another junior distance record!!! Great day...thanks to all!

Of all the things I heard about the day the easiest fix/biggest problem was the junk baskets used for the island hole and other 2 temps.
Considering there are many on here reading why not ask around and find a few good temps? I know Dixon has one 2 minutes away and there are many others within 10 minutes of the course and there is NO legit reason we should use an M-14 in a PDGA tournament.
Pretty sad that the best 3 baskets on the property aren't used on the course. 6 legit center spits of which 5 were from within 25ft and that just stings when the day is over and your rating is lower than it could have been with a normal 24 chain basket then the 18 chained ones we played on.
With that said I had a great time and enjoy the course but probably won't play a sanctioned event there in the near future just because of the equipment.

Thanks to all of the 71 players who came out to celebrate this Grand Opening Tournament.
Big concrats goes out to Big "C" Conall Stillwagon for setting the new distance record!! You Rock!
Those temp baskets did require a more gingerly putt for sure. If the 3 new holes become permanent, I'm sure they will be the same baskets as the others on the course, which aren't bad baskets, granted they aren't the "best" money can buy.... but they aren't bad.
Thank you Birdshot and DGC - for running and sponsoring this tourney.

I would have to say that the Mach 2 new baskets are the worst permanent design you can buy........6 legit spits and they were ALL on the normal holes......actually the discatcher temps catch better with only 1 set of chains.
My -9 (which was a record for a week) included a dirty spit and so did Dixon's -12......
