Birdshot's Date Night Doubles Series

Birdshot kicks off our Date Night Doubles series with a mixed-doubles round of nine holes at Mozola DGC in the shadow of Downtown Houston on Buffalo Bayou and dinner at Jax's Grill immediately following. Bring your date, your significant other or just someone you know and come have fun playing a round of disc golf with other couples who enjoy our favorite sport.

The Birdshot Date Night Doubles series is going to run through the summer months with one Friday night game a month on courses close to the center of town. Date Night Doubles is open to any mixed doubles team, you do not have to be a "couple" so brothers and sisters, co-workers, friends and random strangers are encouraged to come along and play as long as the team is co-ed. After the round is finished we'll all head over to a nearby restaurant for dinner and drinks.

The first event will be only nine holes and we may look at expanding the format if there is interest in June to a full 18 holes.

The tentative schedule for 2011 is as follows:


May 27th at 6pm at Mozola/Jax's Grill
June 17th at TC Jester/The Petrol Station
July 15th at MacGregor/District 7
August 12th at Mason/Doneraki's

Stay tuned to this thread for updates.

Cost will be $5 per couple with payout going to the top three teams. Ace pot will be $1 per person and will cap at $100. If we get enough interest we may split up into divisions. Hope to see everyone out there!

Yes, all one division, at least for this first one. This is supposed to be a fun casual round though so don't beat us all too badly.

Straight up best shot. When we play MacGregor I'm toying with the idea that the men will tee from the yellow Tees and the ladies from the blue; we'll see.

We're going to form up cards at 6pm. I'll be there around 5:45 to start sign-ups. I know at least six couples who are going to make it, so everyone show up.

Also, we will have the new Birdshot Koozies making their debut tonight at DnD tonight. $3 each or two for $5 in ten different color choices. We're selling the koozies to raise funds for a future tournament so buy them up folks.

We had nine teams show up to play on Friday for the first Date Night Doubles. After nine holes Tiff and Patrick ended up tied with De'Atra and Brian. They played alt-9 to decide the tie breaker with team D-n-B taking it for first.

Afterwards we ended up at Mission Burrito and were joined by Billy, Chuck and Andi.

Thanks to everyone who showed up. Next time will be at TC Jester on June 17th.

Howdy all, we're gearing up for a fun night of Date Night Doubles this Friday. I hope everyone has their dates lined up for a round of 9 out at TC Jester Park. After talking to some folks who live in the area it turns out that the Petrol Station is likely to be very crowded on Friday night so we are moving the after round refreshments location to Cazadores Mexican Restaurant on 290 at 34th. Larry Kruse has recommended this place and arranged for us to have a room reserved and a waitress dedicated to our group.

Sign-up will start at 6:00pm. Hope to see everyone there.

Bump to remind everyone that the 4th Date Night Doubles is coming up this Friday. We're going to be playing Mason Park on the near Southeast side this time. Once through from the regular tees on one of Houston's best nine hole courses featuring one of the best disc golf holes in the entire city (#8).

After our round we will retreat to Doneraki's for dinner, drinks and socializing. Bring out your date and join us for a fun evening of disc golf.
