I will be offering a TD clinic at Tom Bass Park on October 25th, Saturday 8-12. For all the details, go to Birdshot's website and look at the New Announcements area at www.houstonbirdshot.com (http://www.houstonbirdshot.com). :)

Who's going to be conducting this clinic. I would hope that you could get someone who's got some years of experience under their belt. Talk to Nez or Stimpy.

Chuck Conaway will be conducting the clinic along with anybody that would like to help. I am breaking it down into 5 sections so 4 helpers would be great. I told the crew at the HFDS meeting about it. I may not have years of experience, but I do have 9 tournaments of experience now. You know what they say, when you have to teach something is when you really learn it, so it will be an excellent experience for me as well. There is already 1 person signed on. I am looking forward to preparing for the clinic. There is a detailed writeup about it at the Birdshot website. Please come and join us in whatever capacity you would like Suemac.

TD clinic sounds like a cool idea.
As far as that other bit goes, this is the way I remember it;
Those that can't do, teach.
Those that can't teach, coach.
Those that can't do, teach, or coach should run for office, or at least apply for an upper management position.

thanks gray beard! I knew I had heard that somewhere before.
How was that an insult? I thought I was typing a statement, but you know what I was thinking.................
If you think that is insulting give me minute to gather my thoughts.

regret is the cancer of life....
That's another one I've heard:)
there are sayings that are aimed to insult, and others that aim to inspire.

Good luck in your venture, it is always good to add to the ranks. If you have one in the winter, let me know, as I would love to help out if needed.

I hope the TD workshop works out well. I wont be able to make it that weekend, but creating and training capacity in the area is a great idea. I have always wondered why there is such a rancor, though from a few, towards the birdshot crew. I certainly haven't seen a whole heard of others creating a tournament circuit.
'Course take it FWIW from a newbie.

Birdshot will be having a 09 tournament scheduling meeting after the TD clinic. We will also discuss policy, financials, etc. Open to everybody. If not able to attend, please let us know when the established tournaments will probably be and Birdshot will work around. Moffitt show, Ice Bowl, etc. Or any tournaments. Hey, I think Birdshot should have a once a month meeting like HFDS. We'll have ours on the second Tuesday of each month at Hooters at I45 south, just south of Nasa Rd 1.:D

Just a reminder that Chuck is running the TD clinic from 8-12 this Saturday at Tom Bass Park at the small pavilion by the Powell hole 18 basket (let's face it...it's in front of the potty!). Patrick & Tiffany Brogdon are planning to attend & we can have a couple more people if you are interested. After the clinic I'm sure we'll grab something to eat & then try to play both courses (at least play the Powell...we need to at least walk the Wilmont). Give me a call by Friday at 832-659-8449 if you would like to get in on this clinic...or meet us out there in the afternoon to play.

I'm sorry for being the rookie here, but I tried looking on the Birdshot page and could not find out what a TD clinic is. Where should I look or can someone explain it here?

This is the only one Chuck has done (will do) so far...basically he's going to have a clinic on what all is involved with being a tournament director...from registering & sanctioning with PDGA to putting together a spreadsheet to enter names as they register...uploading this info to PDGA...putting cards together...a lot of stuff really (probably too much for one morning!). Hell, I've been helping him for a year & I still wouldn't be able to do it by myself...well, maybe I could if I had the computer patience (which I don't!). Anyway, what it boils down to is that Birdshot would like to take on a couple of interns next year to help us out....if you're curious, come on out Saturday morning & check it out. It's free...just a few hours of your time & travel to Bass...plus we'll play afterwards & have a look-see at the Wilmont course to see what kind of damage it had after Ike.

The TD clinic was a big success. Tom Yocky from college station and Tiffany and Patrick Brogdon along with Billy Birdshot attended. We went over inventory, computer spreadsheets, and the rules before playing the Powell. We played doubles with Rick and C.J. Toy Cannon Hopper and Jim Hudson. Who won? Jim Hudson and whoever he plays with of course and it happened to be Billy Birdshot. After that Billy and I took our two new interns Patrick and Tiffany to Chilis for a late lunch. You heard right. Birdshot is pleased to announce Tiffany and Patrick Brogdon as our two new interns for 09. They will be training by running the Terramont mini (I forgot to mention that to them) and training on the Jan 09 tourney at the Links (I haven't mentioned that either) They have been very helpful throughout the 08 Series and Birdshot looks forward to their help and expertise for 09. We are also looking foward to seeing what develops in the Northside Chain Gang for 09. That is a huge ball of energy that is like a volcano that is currently putting out ash and steam, ready to erupt at any time. So watch out:eek:
