Default Greater Houston Championship Series at Shawshank of Huntsville

The end is near. The Championship Series that is. I just got through sending in the Sanctioning agreement to PDGA and the registration to Titledisc. Look for the PDGA registration list and Titledisc in about 1 to 2 weeks. Entry fees are $10 higher because of mandatory $5 greens fee and $5 lunch fee. Both are worth it. If you haven't played Shawshank, this is a must for the players in the area around it. Steve would like to not have a bunch of dogs running around so please limit if not leave them at home. He is currently cleaning the course and will have it ready by November 8th. I will be looking for scorecards for this course if anybody has them. Shawshank also needs to be listed on the PDGA course directory. I should check disc golf review.com to see if it is there. It is over 7000' so it is grip and rip but also technical too.

Shawshank is listed on DGCR:
http://www.dgcoursereview.com/course.php?id=2656

There's also a very rudimentary course map in the "Links / Files" section. Having played two rounds there I would not call this a "grip & rip" course.

Unless Steve has taken measurements since May there are no known distances on the holes.

Great work gentlemen.

Thumbs up Re: Greater Houston Championship Series at Shawshank of Huntsville

Would you believe grip and accurate rip? Thanks Matt for the offer of scorecards. Whenever you can, email me the template, or if you make the scorecards, we will get them from you. Billy mentioned that Northside Chain Gang is going to start mini tournaments. That is awesome Matt. Looks like Northside Chain Gang is going to be really strong. Keep on keepin on.

Default Greater houston championship series finale

Hey Gang! Titledisc is open & we're ready to start receiving pre-registration for the 2008 Series Finale at Shawshank up near Huntsville on November 15. This one will cost $10 more than usual but includes a $5 mandatory greens fee & a $5 lunch (which should be well worth the five bucks from what I understand). Steve Dufrane has brought baskets down for three of our events this past year so we're returning the favor by bringing Houston disc golfers up to his place. This should be another fun tournament folks, so sign up early & sign up often!

Yeah, I guess technically it's out of town...but it IS part of the Series. Thanks to ERic for merging the two threads....and it IS on the 15th (sounds like Chuck was saying that Steve plans on having the course ready by the week before). I still haven't made it up there yet, but I've heard that it's a fun course....get yo asses signed up!!!

There is a rumor going around that when you putt after committing a foot fault on the drive that you do so with your hands handcuffed in front of you. Not true. Also not true is that bloodhounds will be released for players that try to leave the tournament before they are finished (DNF)Another rumor that I have not checked into is that Steve Dufrane used to be a prison guard at Huntsville State Pen. He will be the warden at this tournament though with undercover deputies. Only 1 player has annoyed Steve in the past and lost their lunch privilege. Do not look for an early release Saturday as 2 rounds of 21 tough baskets will give everybody their full sentence of dawn to dusk. I sure wish we could offer the player package of striped shirt and pants. But hey, unlike the State Pen, this is a minimum security course that you will want to come back to.

I hear that people who don't like the course are flogged! And that these floggings will continue to increase in severity until morale is improved. Any truth to this? LOL! This is going to be an awesome tournament!
