Birdshot QV LINKS Tourney - Jan 3, 2009

I saw somewhere that a tourney was going to be held by Birdshot on January 3rd at Quail Valley. Is that going to happen?

It's pending sanctioning right now. It'll be 36 holes on the Links.

Yes, it will be the first tournament of the '09 Championship Series....Chuck has purchased bag-tags for The Links & they will be distributed after the two rounds. I think the cost for tags will be $3.00 on tournament day...then $5.00 after that. Chuck would like to get tags for all of the courses in the series, but I'm not sure it will be affordable. We'll see.

What's the protocol for distributing bag tags at a tourney? Is it strictly by division or by raw score?

I.e. Does last place in MA1 get a higher tag than first place in MA2? What about age divisions? -or- does a 108 in MA2 get a higher tag than 109 in MPO?

Inquiring minds want to know.

Typically it's irregardless of division, only score. What about ties/playoffs though....I am inquiring as well

Should be by score....if there are ties (which wouldn't surprise me) I guess we'll have to play 'em off (more water sports...yay!)...

By score....unless some divisions play from different tees.

Then the scores aren't comparable.

I'm pretty sure we'll all be playing from the same tees...we'll be playing The Lil' Links though....not The Largo! In my opinion, I think everyone should always play from the same tees anyway....if not, you can't get a true round rating.

FYI from the PDGA website related to 2009 memberships:

Important information you need to know when joining or renewing with the PDGA…

The PDGA membership and tour year runs January 1st - December 31st.

Memberships are processed daily, and uploaded to www.pdga.com in weekly batches. If your membership is received before the close of business on MON, you will be listed as current on FRI at www.pdga.com (on the Membership page). Memberships received after the close of business MON will be processed with the following weeks batch.

So that means to be current on FRI Jan 2, 2009 you need to get your membership/renewal in before close of business on MON Dec 29, 2008. That's assuming no additional holiday delays too.

Also, a couple more tips:

• If you are a current dues paid HFDS member you can get a $5 discount on your PDGA membership via the affiliate club program.
• If you sign up multiple family members, i.e. at the same mailing address, and only want one copy of the magazine you can get a $5 discount through the family membership program.
