Default King Me At Kingwood II, Saturday August 8, 2009

Come on out for some shady disc golf on August 8 at the King Me At Kingwood II at River Grove Park in Kingwood. This is Birdshot's second tourney here & a good one to play in the heat since the course is completely surrounded by trees! If you played last year, then you know what I'm talking about.....every few seconds you would hear the "thwack!" of plastic colliding with wood! In surround sound!! Definitely an equalizer course....but a lot of fun! Midnight Biker sez the course is slightly easier since Ike, but I still figure there will be a lot of thwacking going on! Details & registration forms at www.houstonbirdshot.com. Come on out!!

I haven't been out there yet, but from the brave soles that have parked their cars and walked the mile to the course, they said they have seen few to no spiders this year. The course should be open very soon.

It has changed quite a bit since Ike. The most notable change is #5 and #6. Five has a totally new line to the basket, making it easier. 13, has a fallen tree making it much harder.

Looks like bad news....Andi talked with the City of Kingwood yesterday & they said the road will NOT be fixed in time for the tournament! So don't anybody sign up yet!! I was under the impression that they were going to have it ready for 4th of July weekend, but apparently they're doing some extensive work back there. We are tentatively trying to talk with Randon about holding a tourney at Snow Farm instead on that day. Stay tuned...and hold off on signing up for King Me II.....sorry about the premature edisculation!

Randon's in August..................let's see,

The players pack includes an extra large golf umbrella, canteen and a white flag of surrender for when the heat wins big!

This was one I was considering, with all the shade, but Snow Farm, Ouch!!! Mo heat, mo heat and mo mo heat!

Yeah, it will be hot at Snow Farm if we end up doing it....but it'll be hot everywhere! There are a few shots in the woods at Snow Farm....number 11 is that big long shot out in the open (okay, there are quite a few shots out in the open!). If Randon wants to do it though, we will do it....

The big one down the meadow is #10, but 11 is wide open with only a few cedars for shade.

It was powerful hot in May, can't begin to imagine August without us having received any signifigant rain. It would seem that the burn ban might include no smoking on the course if it hasn't rained by then.

What about the new course at Jack Brooks? Half the course is in the shade. Or, just see if we can reschedule Kingwood. The course is unique, sucks to pass it up.

I won't cry if I never play that course................I walked it once and don't think it is worthy of chucking a disc on.

I am sorry. Which course don’t you think deserves to have a disc thrown on it?
