Default Fundraising for texas states

Hi gang! Birdshot is thinking about doing either a one-day two-round non-sanctioned tourney to raise money for States....or else one round on one weekend date & the other course the following weekend. The idea is to make it a $10 across the board entry fee for all divisions...half of the money would go to States, the other half to cash payout. No management fees or anything like that....strictly a chance for regular Birdshooters to make a donation for sponsorship & as another "dress rehearsal" for States like we've done the past two years. Like I said...this would not be sanctioned nor would it be part of the Birdshot 2010 Series. The problem right now is logistics....there are simply so many events happening the next many weekends that it will be difficult to come up with a date or dates that won't conflict with things like Moffitt Show, Bridgepoint's fundraiser, Texas Doubles, Red Rocks, Victoria Open, etc. Hopefully we can make this happen & I will post something ASAP!

Straw poll time!!! Would more of you players be heading to the Victoria Open February 27th (and 28th)...or to AM World Doubles the weekend before States (March 20)? I am guessing if we did what I'm talking about with a fundraising dress rehearsal, the March 20th date would cause less conflict. I know a lot of folks going to Victoria...not everybody's going to AM Doubles. March 20 would be the Saturday before States too, so the course would be pretty much the same as it would be for States the following weekend (minus the stringing, etc.). Let us know what you (the hopefully participating players) think.....Billy

I think you will have enough people show up what ever date you choose. The players that do go out of town on that day can try and raise money at the tourney that they go to. Maybe these players can take some sponsorship forms with them. The majority of Houston players do not play tournaments out of town. I would target these players.

That is right, I am one of them. I am interested in helping make it great for those that do play them.

We might lose a few people because of church on a Sunday....but it could make for a fundraising weekend for those not attending Red Rocks! And there really aren't any other Saturdays open before States...we'll discuss it at Birdshot Central & make a decision soon! Thanks for the input everyone (all two of you!).......
