As president of HFDS, I am calling for a rally of political support for disc golf in Houston. I am asking that the Houston disc golf community contact the mayor's office and city council and thank them for the new poured hot asphalt tee-boxes and new tee-markers at the MacGregor course. Also please express your appreciation to the city mayor and city council of your appreciation of Parks & Recreation for installing these asphalt tee-boxes. I am hopeful if we can create some buzz that it will lead to poured hot asphalt tee-boxes at Moffitt.
The MacGregor course is located in District D. I ask that you call council member Wanda Adams' office: Council Member Wanda Adams City Hall Annex 900 Bagby, First Floor Houston, TX 77002 Phone: 832.393.3001 FAX; 832.393.3201 E-Mail: districtd@houstontx.gov I also ask that you contact your city council member in your district and express your appreciation and thanks. here is a thread to find out who your city council representative is for your district: http://cbtcws.cityofhouston.gov/zipcodes/default.htm The mayor: Mayor Annise D. Parker City of Houston P.O. Box 1562 Houston, TX 77251 Phone: 3-1-1, or 713.837.0311 Email: mayor@houstontx.gov or scheduling@houstontx.gov Also, I suggest contacting the city council offices for each At-Large city council member: here are the links to city council telephone number's generally including the at-large: http://www.houstontx.gov/council/index.html Be sure to contact the mayor and Councilmember Bradford's offices. Remember they answered the disc golf candidate questionnaire at election time and support disc golf. These improvements are consistent with their election-time positions about disc golf, and thus they deserve recognition for their leadership. |

Right on Richard,
Have you seen the new tee boxes yet? Its so nice to see MacGregor get this facelift. It has always been one of Houston's favorite disc golf courses. A big thanks to Marshall Broadway of HPARD also for pushing all of this through the parks department. He should be ready to do collegiate intramurals out at MacGregor now. That is a huge project also. You could have UH, TSU, HBU, Rice competing. I can't wait to check out the boxes myself. |

What I saw out there yesterday was by no means an improvement. It is currently 6-8 inches off the ground and is only a frame holding loose asphalt. I am hoping they are not complete as of yet... ?

It needs to stop ASAP!
makes me wonder why they are not flush because, were we not told that concrete would not work because the mowers would hit them. They wont hit asphalt. Is melting tar more ecological than pouring concrete? glad there are more and more private courses going in, where the city can't touch it. I can suggest a few roads that asphalt would be better used. The frames are already bulging and about to break.

There should be a sign up at hole #1 saying that the course is closed. Nobody should be in those tee boxes until they get the asphalt solid. I'll contact my city contact and see if that was done.

I received an email from Joe Turner, Director of parks & recreation, thanking me for my email to the mayor expressing my appreciation for the forthcoming asphalt tee-boxes at MacGregor.
